Tweed is one of the hottest looks for fall. And designers showcased many styles and colors of the fabric during New York fall runway shows.

We especially liked the look from the Ellen Tracy collection. She featured a multicolor tweed jacket ($398) with suede stretch pants ($178) and a berry-color stretch T-shirt ($88). The designer's ensemble came in at $664.

We shopped at TJ Maxx last week and put together an almost exact match, with less expensive fabrics.

From the racks, we selected a multicolor polyester and rayon jacket ($39.99) and a pair of boot-cut jeans ($24.99). Then we added a berry-hued nylon and silk long sleeve tee ($19.99).

Our St. Louis look was $84.97 — just a fraction of the elegant designer's.

2. Blow-dry hair straight. (Working in small sections, lift hair away from your head, with the brush under your hair. Direct the dryer's nozzle down at the brush, as you bring it along the length of the section, working from roots to ends.)
3. Separate hair into small sections and smooth, using a flat iron on medium heat. Add shine serum for gloss.

4. Gather top half of hair in the middle and pin tightly on each side, creating a faux-hawk look.

5. Let remaining hair fall naturally.

Thanks goodness, the mini is back! Now you can strut your stuff in these adorable flirty skirts that your mother will almost certainly declare are "the size of handkerchiefs!" (You can always remind her that Catholic schoolgirls have been gallivanting their gams in tiny skirts for years, and the nuns don't complain.) These are a few of our favorite new minis.
